Whiringa Whaimana

E tē Wāhi Ngaro, whakatata mai.
Whakatata mai ki ngā iwi katoa ō Te Taitokerau ō Tāmaki
e pānui nei i tenei Ripoata ā Tau, I runga i te Ipurangi
Whakatau iho о̄ manaakitanga ki runga i enei hāpori
Ae.

Oh the Unseen One, draw near
Draw near to all the people of Northland and Auckland
Who read this annual report via the internet
Pour down your blessings upon these communities
To fulfil their aspirations for the benefit of their wider communities
This is our prayer, that it be granted
Evermore, so be it.

Welcome to our Annual Report 2024/25

We are grateful for the wisdom and guidance of our kaumātua Kevin Prime, who gifts us these words about our report’s theme this year.

I roto i to tātou āo tūroa e mahi ngātahi ana ngā mea katoa hei ōranga mo tātou. Ko ngā manu, ngā ngārara, ngā uri ā Tāne, me ngā uri ā Tangaroa e mahi ngātahi ana hēi painga mō te katoa o te āo. Ko ngā uri ā Tāne e hōmai ana i te hau ora hēi whakahā kia ora ai ngā tāngata me ngā kararehe o tenei āo.

Kia ora koutou katoa.

People and communities of Auckland and Northland - greetings to you all.

We pay our respects to those who have passed beyond the veil of darkness; they have been mourned, greeted and farewelled, may they rest in peace. To our many who have passed on, farewell, farewell, farewell.

In our natural world all living things work symbiotically together for our overall benefit. The birds, the insects, the descendants of Tāne and the descendants of Tangaroa. The descendants of Tāne give us the fresh air that we breathe. The roots of Tāne’s children filter the impurities from the land from entering the water so as not to affect the children of Tangaroa and those who drink that water.

If we really want to assist the environment – leave it alone. Let the environment heal itself. But we can help – by planting trees along our waterways.

The hope is that you will embrace this theme of “Relational Connection” into the future; now, and in the years to come.

Thank you all for joining us online to receive the presentation of this Annual Report.

Good health to you all.
